About
Dakota Scott - Creative Writer
You want to learn more about me? Ooh, I'm flattered!
I'm an aspiring fiction writer with four years of education in the Honours Bachelor of Creative Writing & Publishing program at Sheridan College (which is a university-level program, just provided at a college, for some strange reason), and eight years' worth of writing experience, for better or worse.
On a more personal level... I'm a Canadian with a morbid imagination and a fondness for the inclusion of necromancy, martial combat, and lovecraftian abominations in my stories. My strengths as a writer (or so I'm told) are in characterization, and in the detailed descriptions of people and creatures. Oh, and in case the earlier commentary didn't clarify, I'm very keen on medieval fantasy as my primary genre of focus.
I have a couple dozen writing projects on the go, and not a single one published just yet, on account of a couple of different factors:
1) Uncertainty as to whether there's even an audience for what I'm intending to write about.
2) The regular affliction of all writers: not feeling like anything is good enough to publish just yet.
3) A general lack of confidence in committing to any methods of publication currently existing.
4) I've also had some confidence being shattered by the development of AI writing services, which can almost completely remove a human writer from the equation, altogether.
That got depressing quickly, but that's because it's true. 'Reality is often disappointing,' and all that.
But the goal here is to have a place for putting some small samples of my writing out there, so I can get an idea of who my audience would be, if I were to actually get anything larger published. So, I'll have some smaller samples of writing to put out there for everyone to look at, so you can get a better idea of what I'd be writing, and you all can be the judges of whether or not it'd be worth reading.
Other than that, I feel like that's pretty much covered all my bases. If not, then I can always come back to this, and spill more verbal vomit into the internet.
Take care, and perhaps I'll see some people in the future who like my shenanigans!
